Mighty Bubbler and Crafty Bubbler: How They Work, Which to Buy and How to Use One

A Mighty bubbler or Crafty bubbler is one of the simplest ways to cool the vapor from a Storz & Bickel Mighty or Crafty and make each draw smoother, and the side-mounted designs do it without putting water above the device.

Whether you use a Mighty, Mighty+, Crafty or Crafty+, this guide covers how they work, the three designs we sell, how they fit, and when a dry glass mouthpiece is the better choice. The bubblers below are third-party accessories designed by The Vapetrix for Storz & Bickel devices, and they are not official Storz & Bickel products.

How a Water Bubbler Works on a Mighty or Crafty

A bubbler adds a small chamber of water between the cooling unit and your mouth. Vapor is drawn through the water, which takes some of the heat out and breaks the flow into smaller bubbles, so the inhale feels cooler and softer. This is most noticeable at higher temperatures and in longer sessions, when the standard mouthpiece can feel warm or dry. Water also adds a little volume to each draw.

Why a Side Bubbler Suits These Devices

All three bubblers we sell for the Mighty and Crafty are side designs. The main body of water sits to one side of the device rather than directly above the cooling unit, which helps keep water away from the device during normal use. They attach straight to the cooling unit with silicone gaskets, so you do not need a separate glass adapter.

Our Mighty and Crafty Bubblers Compared

Bubbler Design Best for
Cascade Side Bubbler Single side-mounted water chamber A simple first bubbler with cooler, smoother draws
Steel Stream Side Bubbler Water chamber plus stainless steel cooling beads Extra cooling from two stages in one piece
Typhoon Double Barrel Bubbler Two internal water chambers The longest vapor path and the most cooling

All three are borosilicate glass and fit the Mighty, Mighty+, Crafty and Crafty+. If you are not sure where to start, the Cascade is the straightforward choice, and the Steel Stream and Typhoon suit people who want to push cooling further.

Mighty vs Crafty: Does a Bubbler Make a Difference?

Yes, on both. The same bubblers fit the Mighty, Mighty+, Crafty and Crafty+, because they share the same cooling unit connection, and the effect is the same: cooler, smoother draws, most noticeable at higher temperatures and in longer sessions. The trade-off is that a bubbler is larger, needs cleaning and is less portable than a dry glass mouthpiece. For a closer comparison of the two devices, read Mighty vs Crafty: does a water bubbler improve vapor smoothness.

How to Use a Bubbler

Learning how to use a bubbler with a Mighty or Crafty is simple, and it takes a minute:

  1. Add a small amount of water, enough to cover the openings in the water chamber but not so much that it splashes when you draw.
  2. Remove the stock mouthpiece, then fit the bubbler onto the device’s cooling unit using the silicone gasket, and make sure the seal is tight.
  3. Keep the device upright and stable, and draw slowly and steadily.
  4. When you finish, empty the water before you pack away.

Mighty+ and Crafty+

All three bubblers fit the Mighty+ and Crafty+ as well as the standard Mighty and Crafty, so the best bubbler for a Mighty+ is the same choice as for the Mighty: start with the Cascade, or go for the Steel Stream or Typhoon for more cooling.

Cleaning and Care

Empty the water and rinse after each session. Every so often, soak the glass in isopropyl alcohol, rinse with warm water and let it dry completely before using it again. Clean glass tastes better and keeps airflow open. Fresh screens help too, so see our guide to coarse screens or browse the coarse screen set.

Bubbler or Dry Glass Mouthpiece?

A bubbler gives the most cooling of any option here, but it is bigger, needs more cleaning and is not made for travel. If you want cooler vapor on the move, a glass mouthpiece is the better fit. The Vortex Spiralled Cooling Mouthpiece and the Long-Draw Dimpled Cooling Mouthpiece lengthen the vapor path without water, and the Long-Draw Glass Mouthpiece and Classic Short Glass Mouthpiece are simple everyday options. If you are also weighing capsules, see glass vs aluminium capsules, and for Venty owners the complete Venty starter kit. Our guide to Mighty and Crafty glass mouthpieces goes into more detail.

Using a Venty?

Venty owners have their own bubblers, so these will not fit. See the Cascade Side Bubbler for Venty instead, or read our Venty water bubbler setup guide.

Final Thoughts

If cooler, smoother draws are what you want from your Mighty or Crafty at home, a side bubbler is the upgrade to make. Start with the Cascade, step up to the Steel Stream or Typhoon for more cooling, or browse the full range of Mighty and Crafty accessories.
