Venty Bubbler: Cascade, Steel Stream XL or Typhoon?

In short: every Venty bubbler we stock pushes straight into the Venty cooling unit in place of the stock mouthpiece, sealed by a silicone gasket, with no adapter. The Cascade side bubbler is a single water stage; the Steel Stream XL adds a section of stainless steel balls before the water at the same size and weight (about 120 g each); and the Typhoon double barrel adds two glass chambers for the longest vapour path, but is the biggest and heaviest at about 210 g. If the draw feels tight, open the Venty's airflow wheel before anything else.

Storz & Bickel does not list a water adapter or bubbler among its own Venty parts, so the Venty bubblers on the market, including ours, are third-party pieces. Some other retailers also sell third-party Venty glass adapters with standard joints; we do not stock one. For the Venty's airflow basics, see how to improve airflow on the Venty. If you are still deciding whether you want water at all, start with Venty water filtration vs cooling stems.

1. How a Venty Bubbler Attachment Fits

None of our Venty bubblers uses a 10, 14 or 18 mm glass joint. Each has a glass connector that takes a silicone gasket, and the connector pushes into the cooling unit cap where the stock mouthpiece normally sits. The cooling unit stays on the device, so its screens keep working and you load the filling chamber exactly as normal.

Each bubbler comes with two silicone gaskets. Our listings are open about the trade-off: the Cascade listing warns it can fall out, and a silicone fit is generally less secure than the stock plastic mouthpiece, so support the glass while you use it. All three are designed by The Vapetrix and listed for the Venty only. They do not fit the Mighty or Crafty, whose cooling units are different.

If you want to use a full-size water pipe with a 14 or 18 mm joint, these are not the answer. That needs a water pipe adapter, which we do not currently stock for the Venty.

3. Cascade, Steel Stream XL and Typhoon

Cascade Venty side bubbler

The Cascade side bubbler is a single water chamber. It adds water without adding extra chambers, and with no loose balls inside, it has the fewest parts to clean.

Steel Stream XL

The Steel Stream XL keeps the Cascade's footprint but adds a middle section of food-grade 304 stainless steel balls. Vapour passes over the balls before reaching the water, so you get an extra stage in the vapour path without extra length or weight. The balls need cleaning and drying along with the glass.

Typhoon double barrel

The Typhoon double barrel bubbler routes vapour through two internal glass chambers before the water, giving the longest path. At about 210 g it is roughly 75% heavier than the other two and 25 mm longer, so as a practical precaution, hold the glass rather than letting it hang off the cooling unit.

4. Setting Up Step by Step

  1. Start cold. Fit the bubbler with the Venty switched off and cool.
  2. Remove the stock mouthpiece. Storz & Bickel's instructions say to pull it out of the cooling unit cap while gently tilting it back and forth. Keep it somewhere safe for portable use.
  3. Fit a gasket. Slide one of the silicone gaskets onto the bubbler's glass connector.
  4. Push it in straight. Insert the connector into the cooling unit cap until it feels secure.
  5. Add a little water. Start with a small amount and add more only if the vapour feels hot.
  6. Test draw cold. Draw through it before heating. If air whistles past the gasket, reseat it.
  7. Heat and draw slowly. A gentle pull makes splashing less likely.

5. Tuning the Draw With the Airflow Wheel

Water adds resistance, and the Venty has its own airflow adjustment. Storz & Bickel describes an airflow setting wheel on the cooling unit with three notches:

Notch Airflow With a bubbler
1 Low Likely to feel tight with water
2 Medium A good starting point for the Cascade and Steel Stream XL
3 High, up to 20 litres per minute Try it with the Typhoon or if any bubbler feels tight

The right-hand column is our suggestion rather than Storz & Bickel's; treat it as a starting point. If the draw still feels tight on high, use a little less water.

6. Problems and Fixes

Problem Likely cause Fix
Bubbler feels loose or drops out Gasket not fully seated or worn Reseat straight; swap to the spare gasket
Air whistles at the joint Gasket rolled or twisted Remove, straighten the gasket and refit
Draw feels very tight Too much water or low airflow Open the airflow wheel; pour some water out
Water reaches your mouth Overfilled or drawing too hard Less water, slower pull
Thin, weak vapour Leak at the gasket, or the chamber needs loading properly Cold test draw; check the gasket and load

7. Cleaning

For the Cascade, our listing recommends a soak in isopropyl alcohol followed by a thorough rinse with warm water, and the same approach suits the other two glass pieces. Let it dry completely before refitting, and dry the steel balls in the Steel Stream XL fully too. Swap in fresh water each time you use it.

Clean the cooling unit as well, because it still sits in the vapour path. Storz & Bickel's Venty cleaning instructions say to take the cooling unit apart and soak the parts in warm soapy water for at least five minutes, or in isopropyl alcohol for no more than 30 minutes, then rinse under running water for at least a minute, dry completely and reassemble. Never immerse the Venty itself.

8. Which One to Pick

  • You want water with the fewest parts: Cascade.
  • You want an extra stage in the path without a bigger piece: Steel Stream XL.
  • You mostly use the Venty at a table and want the longest path: Typhoon.
  • You want cooler vapour with no water at all: the Chill-Path long glass mouthpiece, an 80 mm glass mouthpiece that uses the same gasket fit.

9. Quick Answers

Do I need an adapter for a Venty bubbler? Not for these three. They push into the cooling unit with a silicone gasket.

Does Storz & Bickel make a Venty water bubbler? Not according to its Venty parts list, which has no water adapter.

Will a Mighty or Crafty bubbler fit the Venty? No. The Venty cooling unit is different, so choose a Venty-specific piece.

What is the best Venty bubbler? It depends on how you use it: the Cascade for the simplest setup, the Steel Stream XL for an extra stage at the same size, and the Typhoon for the longest path if you do not mind the size.

Final Thoughts

All three fit the same way, so choose by how much cooling you want and how much glass you are happy to hold. For a quick first setup, see our Venty water bubbler setup guide, and for screens and spares, the Venty accessories and replacement parts collection.
